The banning on the registration of plots, those of which continue to be unapproved is effected in Tamil Nadu with full force since 2016. The Madras Court last year clearly ordered to effectively stop and restrain all property registrations of plots which continue to be remaining as “not approved” or people now will have to apply for the re-registration with pending layout approvals. The order passed in 2016 has been confirmed for the three weeks during the time the law was passed and till no further notice comes.

Last September, Chief Justice Ms. Indira Banerjee & Justice M Sundar asked for a bucket list of all the details of the applicants of registration with unapproved plots in the violation. Although, legal justice stated decision for all issues will be taken after a special sitting in May, the act has turned bitter for many after a case that held on 9/6/2016. The Chief Justice Kishan Kaul had apparently “approved” all the registrations of the plots which were still “not approved”. Those who tried to convert farmlands into housing plots without following the rules and regulations are listed as “not approved”, and Madras HC bench has been held responsible all the officials who were personally liable for the violation of rules and regulations.
